Pecans return to the Gov. Ross Mansion

The Delaware Center for Horticulture recently completed its largest tree planting project to date in Seaford.  More than 300 trees were planted at 11 educational, recreational and historical sites in and around the city.  The planting at the Gov. Ross Mansion includes historically accurate pecans (as well as white pines shown in forefront). As the story goes, when Ross was laying out the plantation, he said he was fine with any tree except poplars, so pecans were planted. The original pecans are long gone, but they were replaced through this project.
